Halloween, October 31st 萬聖節，十月三十一日
This movie is called "The Nightmare Before Christmas" where a skeleton wants to be Santa but finds out that he doesn't know how to be Santa. The skeleton is really an expert in making Halloween scary. Halloween originally was meant to keep away ghosts, but now American kids dress up on October 31st and go trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods.

聖誕夜驚魂”聖誕夜驚魂”這部電影主要是講一個骷髏人想要成為聖誕老公公，但是發現他不知道如何成為聖誕老公公。這個骷髏人是製造萬聖節恐懼的專家。萬聖節原本是指要嚇走鬼魂，但現在美國小孩在十月三十一日好會變裝和在社區內玩「不給糖就搗蛋」的遊戲。

Thanksgiving Day history. Today in the US, Thanksgiving is about family and being grateful for what you have and appreciating everyone you know.

For over 200 years after the original feast at Plymouth, there was no official Thanksgiving Day. For that, we need to give thanks to Sarah Josepha Ham, a magazine editor in the 1800s who had spent 40 years campaigning for a national day of giving thanks. Her persistent efforts paid off, finally in 1863, President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national day to give thanks.

Christmas, December 25--How the Grinch Stole Christmas was originally a book written by Dr. Seuss. It is about the Grinch who hates Christmas and steals everyone's gifts, decorations, Christmas trees, and food. He think Christmas is only about gifts, but he later learns that Christmas is much more than that.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

She stared at the Grinch and said, "Santy Claus, why,
Why are you taking our Christmas tree? Why?"

But, you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick,
He thought up a lie, and he thought it up quick!

Valentine's Day, February 14th--Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown is a classic American cartoon by Charles Schultz. Charlie Brown is often seen as a pitiful character (as can be seen in this short film). Elementary school kids in America celebrate Valentine's Day by giving cards and candy to every student so no one ends up like Charlie Brown. But the reality is, there are lots of people like Charlie Brown.

Well, another Valentine’s Day has come and gone.

I’d give anything if that little Red-Haired Girl had sent me a Valentine. Hey, maybe she did send me one. Maybe she did send me a Valentine and it didn’t get here til today. Maybe it’s in our mailbox right now. I’m afraid to look. If I look and there’s nothing there, I’ll be crushed. On the other hand, if she did send me a Valentine… I’ve got to look. I hate Valentine’s Day!

Charlie Brown we’ve been feeling awfully guilty about not giving you a Valentine this year. Here, I’ve erased my name from this one. I’d like you to have it.

Hold on there. What do you think you’re doing? Who do you think you are? Where were you yesterday when everyone else was giving out Valentines? Is kindness and thoughtfulness something you can make retroactive? Don’t you think he has any feelings? You and your friends are the most thoughtless bunch I’ve ever known. You don’t care anything about Charlie Brown. You just hate to feel guilty. And now you have the nerve to come around one day later and offer him a used Valentine just to ease your conscience. Independence Day, July 4th
July 4th is when the US celebrates its independence from Great Britain. The US's Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. Americans celebrate by eating BBQ and watching fireworks.
